25 May PARKRUN TAKEOVER DAY!
Club members were up bright and early on Saturday 24th May to set up, man and take part in Ludlow parkrun. Yes. You guessed it! It was our club parkrun takeover day.
It was a tremendous effort by Sally Toye who had been beavering away for the last few weeks, gathering volunteers and, of course, sourcing cake! She was even up extra early to mark out the course, which allowed our run director, Tony Stanley, a bit more time to work on his stand up routine for the event briefing. It was definitely worth it as Tony had everyone in stitches. (Someone should have recorded it)

173 runners eventually set off on the two lap course, including parkrun tourists from Cornwall, Stockport, Liverpool and Pontypridd. There was a group on a hen weekend and a cluster of orienteers off to get lost round Ludlow later! There were so many on the start line it took a while for those at the back to get going.
The course was nice and dry underfoot and after the dire warnings that there was to be ABSOLUTELY NO FALLING OVER BY ANYONE it was an incident free event. Phew! Sixteen club members ran the event and, looking at the photos at the bottom of this post, most of them seem to be enjoying it.
The support from marshals and everyone at the crossing point was fantastic and the takeover ran like “a well oiled and efficient machine”.
A huge thank you to the volunteers who did such a great job and also to the club bakers, as no parkrun takeover would be complete without plenty of cake!
